Hog Roast
The club will be holding a combined Hog Roast/School disco on Sat 15th November at the Pilcs Club.  Uniform is compulsory with headmaster Wayne Coughlan taking the detention class for "naughty" pupils.  Tickets are priced at £6 and are available from Mark Jones
 
Xmas Golf Day
West Mon RFC will be holding its annual golf day on Friday 28th November at the Alice Springs Golf Club

Former Players and Associates Reunion Day
 
As part of the its 60th Anniversary celebrations, a reunion day is being held on Saturday 7th March when the club will be entertaining Abersychan.

 A reunion is being held on Friday 24th October 2008 at the Commodore
 Hotel,
 Cwmbran to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the opening of the
 school.

Guest of honour will be Graham Price who will deliver one of his "after

Awards Evening

West Mon RFC recently held its awards evening at the PILCS Club where centre Mark Groves was rewarded for some outstanding performances with the Player of the Year cup.

 

The Players Player went to D J Winter while the evergreen Mark Smith was a popular choice as Clubman of the Year.  It was no surprise that No 8 forward Dave Starmore was presented with the Trainers Award whilst Alex Watkins deservedly won the Most Improved Player trophy.

 

Captain for 2008/09 season

Front row forward Mark Meadows has been deservedly rewarded for last year’s efforts by being reappointed as captain for the club’s sixtieth season.

If so, pre season training is currently taking place every Monday and Wednesday at the Pilcs Social Club. New Road
 
All players old and new are welcome to attend the sessions under the direction of WRU Level 2 qualified coach Tony Watkins, with fitness coach Mark Jones supported by Geoff Lewis.
 
Players are invited to meet at the club's changing rooms at 6:45 for 7:00pm start.
